St Cyprian’s Church

Clarence Gate, Westminster.

Grade II.

This magnificent church has a superb chancel screen and excellent stained glass. The church plays an active part in the local community. It is used by Francis Holland School, the London Korean Community Church, and, as Father David Cherry is Chaplain to the University of Westminster, it may become the University Church. They have just launched a fundraising campaign to restore the high altar. This was designed in 1903 by Sir Ninian Comper and is decorated with scenes of the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life. The decoration consists of paint, gesso and gilding, and will cost £20,000 to restore. The Trust has offered a grant of £2,000 towards this.
